Oldest Japanese person dies‚ 115 years-old

TOKYO: Japan's oldest person, Chiyono Hasegawa, died on Friday aged 115, the governor of Saga prefecture said.

"Ms Chiyono Hasegawa was the pride, not only of Saga residents, but also of the Japanese public," Saga governor Yasushi Furukawa said in a statement.

The oldest Japanese person now is Jiroemon Kimura who lives in Kyoto, 114, and who is also the world's oldest man.
